Kate Bosworth in Valentino at the 2011 Deauville Film Festival

At the latest Deauville American Film festival, I have had a crush on Kate Bosworth’s Valentino dress. I like its chocolate color that is seldom seen on the red carpets. The cut is classic but the outfit is not boring thanks to the bow belt and the silk chiffon that covers Kate Bosworth’s arms and cleavage.
Her only jewels are drop earrings that are the same color as the dress. Lastly, the actress is holding a brown clutch with a rhinestone bow detail.
This dress is suitable for all occasions and could replace the little black dress as a basic in a wardrobe.

2011 Academy Awards: my favourite outfits

This year, I like actress Natalie Portman’s violet Rodarte gown. Without being very original, the dress is nicely pleated. The neckline is embroidered with purple beads that you can see on her earrings too. I find that this gown enhances her pregnant body.

Another outfit I have noticed is Reese Witherspoon’s Giorgio Armani Privé gown. This is a black strapless dress with a white band at the neckline. I like its simplicity and tuxedo spirit. The actress has added a touch of color with emerald ring and earrings.

Cannes 2010: my favourite outfits (2/2)

I go back to my selection of the most beautiful outfits of the Cannes film festival .

For me the number one outfit is Marion Cotillard’s Lefranc Ferrant jumpsuit:

Marion Cotillard

What I like about this outfit is that the actress goes beyond the beaten paths. A jumpsuit can easily make you look like you’re wearing a boilersuit. Marion Cotillard’s jumpsuit is more like a strapless dress whose bottom would have been modified. The result is a pretty convincing.

I am not the only one to have noticed this outfit: I have read positive reviews but also comments of people who hate this look. At least Marion Cotillard will have drawn attention to herself, which is the objective of each celebrity going to Cannes.

Cannes 2010 : my favourite outfits (1/2)

Each year, I follow Cannes film festival, not because I am a film lover but rather to admire the haute couture outfits on the red carpet.

This year there were few outfits for my taste in Cannes but I have nevertheless selected – and drawn – my three prefered looks.

In the third place, Naomi Watts is wearing a Diane von Furstenberg dress:

I like the summer pattern in turquoise, yellow and grey. This is an outfit which is as easy to wear on the beach as on the red carpet

In the second position, Salma Hayek is wearing a Gucci gown:

This outfit is not very risky but it is elegant on her. I like the wine color and the straps that break the conformity of the gown.

The outfit that I have ranked number one will be published in the following days (suspense!).

2008 Cesar Fashion Review

The César are the French equivalent of the Academy Awards. This year, the ceremony was held in Paris on february 22th. This was an occasion to see some nice gowns and some disastrous outfits.
Here are two outfits I like:

Chiara Mastroianni (on the left) wears a simple little black dress. It is a wrap dress and the front of the dress is nicely draped. Chiara could wear it also for daytime. I like the idea of wearing one dress for different occasions.
Chiara has a minimalist look with very few accessories : no jewel, black pumps. Only the embroidered purse gives some brightness to the outfit.

Actress Aïssa Maïga wears a Dior gown whose cut is simple. The color is sober. But there are pleats and embroidered silver sequins on the front of the gown. I find it makes her gown both elegant and original.

I don’t know who made Chiara’s dress. If you know the answer, please leave me a comment.
